Switzerland defeated Russia and won thereby their second game in Group A.

The win was not an easy one for Switzerland. Russia got off to a good start and early in the game they scored their two first goals of the tournament. Elizaveta Nadeeva made the assist to the first goal, and then scored the second one herself. After a bit more than nine minutes played Switzerland evened out the game a bit by scoring 1-2.

–  We were not ready in the beginning, they fought more. They wanted to score more badly than us, says MVP for team Switzerland Leonie Wieland.

Only 40 seconds in to the second period, Switzerland scored their second goal of the evening. After this the game went back and forth for a while, where both teams had some good opportunities to take the lead. It would take almost eleven minutes before Switzerland scored their third goal, but then just under one minute until the fourth. With one minute left of the second period Switzerland extended their lead to 5-2.

At the end of the third period, Switzerland scored another goal. The final result is thereby declared Russia 2 – Switzerland 6.
